Our Partnership with Canine Companions
NARA is proud to partner with Canine Companions®, a nonprofit organization that provides expertly trained service dogs to children, adults and veterans with disabilities.
Each year during NARA’s Annual Convention, members come together to raise funds in support of Canine Companions and its mission. What has become a meaningful convention tradition is also a reflection of the generosity of the NARA community.
About Canine Companions
Founded in 1975, Canine Companions is the largest nonprofit provider of service dogs in the United States. The organization enhances independence for children, adults and veterans with disabilities by providing expertly trained service dogs and ongoing support.
Canine Companions service dogs complete months of professional training and learn more than 45 tasks, from retrieving items and opening doors to alerting recipients to important sounds. The result is much more than assistance with everyday tasks: these partnerships can provide greater independence, confidence and connection.
Canine Companions provides its service dogs — and a lifetime of ongoing support — at no cost to recipients. The organization relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations and community organizations to make this work possible.
