About NARA

The North American Renderers Association (NARA), headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, was formed in 1933 as the professional organization of the rendering industry.

NARA is an alliance that speaks with a collective voice to represent the best interests of its members in public, government and regulatory affairs, and provides services, programs and technical support to the North American rendering industry: both in the national and international markets.

  • Vision: The world relies on rendered and repurposed food and feed as the sustainable source of nutrition and energy because they reduce food waste and carbon emissions. Mission: Maximize acceptance, utilization, value, and access to markets for NARA member products and services.
  • Diversity – Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. Belonging. They’re more than just words. At the North American Renderers Association, everyone is welcome. Our workforce is global and so are our customers. Together we strive to make a positive, long-lasting, and meaningful impact in the communities where we operate and the industries where our products are utilized all over the planet. We do this by creating a community of involvement, respect, and connection. We value our similarities and differences and invite people from all backgrounds and identities to participate in our programs.

At NARA, we represent our members’ interests to regulatory and other governmental agencies, promote the greater use of animal by-products and foster the opening and expansion of trade between foreign buyers and North American exporters.

We also publish Render Magazine, in addition to maintaining a roster of all members. Render is a bi-monthly publication for and about the rendering industry. Our members rely on our organization as a technical resource on animal health, animal nutrition, environmental and regulatory issues, while our annual convention provides a forum for renderers from around the world to share experiences and discuss common interests.

In addition to our U.S.-based headquarters, we also maintain offices in Mexico and Hong Kong and have market consultants in Brussels, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Chile.
