The North American Renderers Association (NARA) is proud to recognize Ava Goodpasture as the inaugural recipient of the Owen Vickers Memorial Scholarship, a new scholarship established in 2026 to honor the legacy of longtime rendering industry leader T. Owen Vickers, Sr.
Created in partnership with BHT ReSources, the scholarship reflects Vickers’ commitment to the rendering industry, education, and investing in future generations. The recipient receives $2,500 per year for two years, for a total award of $5,000.
Goodpasture is currently studying Business Management – Human Resources at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and expects to graduate in 2029. Her connection to the rendering industry spans three generations, making her selection particularly meaningful for the scholarship’s inaugural year.
In reflecting on the award, Goodpasture shared that receiving the scholarship is especially meaningful because rendering has been part of her family for three generations and her parents personally knew Owen Vickers. She said she is grateful for the opportunity to carry that connection forward as she continues her education and prepares for her future.
The Owen Vickers Memorial Scholarship builds on NARA’s commitment to supporting education and encouraging the next generation while recognizing those whose leadership and contributions have helped shape the rendering industry.
