ALEXANDRIA, VA, March 17, 2026 – The North American Renderers Association (NARA) has joined a coalition of leading agricultural, feedstock, and energy organizations in sending a letter to Donald Trump urging the Administration to finalize the 2026 and 2027 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volumes without delay.
In the letter, the groups emphasize that immediately finalizing the RFS is the most effective near-term step the Administration can take to strengthen U.S. energy security, increase domestic diesel supply, and help stabilize rising fuel costs amid global market disruptions.
The coalition – which includes American Soybean Association, National Oilseed Processors Association, National Energy & Fuels Institute, U.S. Canola Association, and Clean Fuels Alliance America – represents the full biomass-based diesel value chain, from farmers and feedstock providers to fuel producers and end users.
The letter underscores that U.S. producers already have the capacity and feedstock availability to quickly scale production of biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel, provided there is clear and timely policy direction.
As a critical part of that value chain, the rendering industry plays a unique and essential role by converting animal byproducts into low-carbon feedstocks used to produce these fuels. This domestic supply of fats and oils helps reduce reliance on foreign energy sources while supporting a more circular and sustainable economy.

The letter also highlights that delays in finalizing the Renewable Fuel Standard create unnecessary market uncertainty, slowing investment and limiting the ability of U.S. producers to fully utilize existing capacity.
NARA and the rendering industry stand ready to work alongside federal agencies and policymakers to advance practical, near-term solutions that strengthen America’s energy security. Finalizing the RFS would provide the certainty needed to ramp up production, support American agriculture, unlock the full potential of the biomass-based diesel feedstock community, and ensure a more stable and secure domestic fuel supply.
