Celebrating National Cat Day: Sustainability and Nutrition for Our Feline Friends

Renderers and those supporting the rendering industry are dedicated to enhancing sustainability while keeping our pets’ diets nutritious. In addition to Halloween, October boasts National Cat Day – the perfect time to spotlight how rendering benefits our feline friends by making their food sustainable and healthy!

National Cat Day

Observed on October 29 in the U.S. and Canada, National Cat Day was founded in 2005 by lifestyle writer Colleen Paige. The day raises awareness about the number of cats needing rescue each year while encouraging cat lovers to celebrate their pets for their unconditional love and companionship.

At NARA, we wholeheartedly support this mission, and would also like to highlight that if you are thinking of rescuing a cat, all cat owners need to know that their beloved feline friends are “obligate carnivores,” meaning that cats literally require meat to survive.

Rendered protein meals play a vital role in pet food, delivering the nutrients and minerals found in meat that cats need, while also making pet food more sustainable.

To all the cat owners out there, NARA wishes you a Happy Halloween and a long, healthy life for your cute (sometimes aloof, occasionally spooky) feline companions!
